Naomi Valazquez Greene (Swami Ishananda)
Naomi is a certified yoga instructor and duly ordained priest (Swami), through the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago where she served as an assistant instructor in the Hatha Yoga Teachers Training program. In addition to offering classes at the Temple of Kriya Yoga, she has shared her passion for yoga since 1987, offering classes at various venues including hospitals, parks, churches, as well as cardiovascular centers in Illinois.
She currently teaches yoga, and provides instruction on meditation and the yoga philosophy. She also contributes articles on yoga-related topics to Natural Awakenings Tucson. Naomi’s holds a Master’s degree in journalism and communications. She worked as a journalist for various print, radio and television media in Illinois, as well as Louisiana, including WGN-TV, United Press International and a PBS affiliate. Her background and experience, and love of yoga, led to a position as co-editor of YogaChicago magazine. Naomi retired as a public relations and outreach professional from the State of Illinois. As a Spanish-language native speaker, Naomi seeks opportunities to share yoga in a bilingual setting. Naomi and her husband retired and moved to Tucson in 2019. In addition to yoga, Naomi enjoys bicycling, stargazing and other Tucson activities. |
