Bea’s spiritual journey with yoga began in her early twenties. She started practicing yoga asanas in 2002 with the intention to gain strength and improve overall health. The benefits of yoga have been so valuable in all aspects of her life that she is committed and passionate about sharing it with others. She is so thankful for the Yoga Connection and its Hatha Yoga Teacher Training program which has enabled her to achieve this goal.
Bea strongly believes in respecting the individual body’s unique condition. Her goal is to teach students to practice with inner awareness and safety so they can fully receive the benefits of a class session. She does this by emphasizing the connection of breath and movement to experience the present moment, and develop steadiness and ease with each pose.
She is committed to deepening her own practice by continued study of meditation, pranayama and Yoga philosophy with Hatha and Raja Yoga teacher Chris Coniaris.
“I am humble and blessed for the many positive benefits Yoga continues to bring into my life. I am also grateful to all my wonderful Yoga teachers and their teachers, for without them, I would not be so deeply inspired and committed to my yogic journey.”
Bea currently teaches Prenatal Yoga.

Cynthia Russell
Hatha Yoga Instructor
_
Eight years ago, Cynthia was living in her maternal
grandmother’s 113 year old house in north Texas. She found a book on how to
practice yoga and began exploring the practice in the upstairs dormitory room
where her mother and aunt grew up. She surrounded herself with candles,
beautiful music, and a curiosity about what yoga was and how it would affect
her body. It did not take long to know that it was a remarkable practice and
not much longer to become frustrated in her process. So, she found a DVD
practice and continued her work in the dormitory “studio” until she relocated
to Tucson. A year of practice with new DVDs began to bore her so she sought out
a teacher and from there began what has become a life-transforming exploration
of not only how yoga affects her body but her entire being.
She began the yoga teacher training at Yoga Connection in January of 2011, completing the 200 hour certificate in May 2011 and is now working towards the 500 hour certification program. Her specialty is gentle Hatha yoga, especially as modified for practice in and with chairs.

Rhiwena Slack
Hatha Yoga Instructor
Rhiwena begin practicing yoga in 2000, as a result of suffering a neck ache. As well as easing her neck pain, yoga has brought to her a calmness of mind, a healthier and more balanced body, and a greater awareness of body and mind. She finds the energy of a group practice uplifting. Wishing to share these benefits, Rhiwena completed the Teacher Training and Personal Growth Intensive at Yoga Connection in 2007. Outside of yoga Rhiwena is interested in a clean, healthy, bio-diverse environment, and her practice is working towards low impact living. She holds a B.S. in Toxicology, and is working on an M.S. in energy and environmental studies.
“Most importantly Priscilla, and the other teachers at Yoga Connection, have taught me the importance of making yoga accessible to everyone regardless of abilities. As Tucson’s only not for profit yoga studio, I believe it uniquely caters to a broad cross section of the community.”
Rhiwena currently teaches Beginning/Continuing Yoga.

Eva Taylor
Hatha Yoga Instructor
Eva's first memories of yoga are as a 5 year old practicing with Lilias Folan on television in the mornings, although she didn't begin her own practice until the late 90's. A serious athlete, Eva began using yoga (albeit unknowingly at first) as a supplemental training method in college.
She progressed from athlete to coach, and found that yoga was the perfect blend of physical and mental dedication that other rowers, swimmers, and runners needed to get their minds and bodies ready for peak performance. After teaching yoga in Los Angeles to both those she trained as well as private students, she moved back home to Tucson and got her certification here at the Yoga Connection.
Eva believes yoga should be accessible to all people, and that there is no greater underestimation in western science than the mind-body connection. To her class she brings a strong knowledge of body mechanics, a grand belief in human potential, and a hearty sense of humor. Outside of the studio she is a full-time mom, writer, and novice gardener.

Pep Thompson
Pep's interest in yoga started when she was just a child watching Lilias on the television. She remembers participating with Lilias on the living room floor. Many years back she took her first and only yoga class through Priscilla Potter at a recreation center. She then began a home practice out of need and for enjoyment.
Pep retired from a life long career and thought she would not want to work again until one morning while practicing she thought what a joy it would be to teach something she loves. She completed the Yoga Connection's teacher training in 2008.
Pep enjoys teaching classes with students who may have special needs, such as Prenatal and Back Care. She has had "spinal issues" for the last 15 years and has greater understanding as to what the student may need when healing from, and watching old injuries. "When a student smiles at the end of class or they may show a calm about them self, well that is what makes teaching such a joy."
Pep currently teaches Gentle Yoga and Back Care Yoga.

Registered Yoga Teacher, Level 3 iRest Teacher
Lily’s interest in both the physical and spiritual aspects of yoga began in the early 1970s but it wasn’t until 2009 that she pursued the teacher training program at the Yoga Connection. She has a degree in psychology and so it was natural for her to continue her training in Life Force Yoga, Yoga for Depression and Mood Management with Amy Weintraub. Deeply interested in the benefits of yoga therapy she has also completed Level 3 training in iRest Yoga Nidra, a deep and healing meditation practice designed by Richard Miller. Lily continues to train with Richard Miller in advanced iRest trainings.
