Class Descriptions
Yoga is exercise with a difference. “Hatha” means body-mind. Yoga brings these back into a state of health, balance and harmony. We do NOT teach extreme yoga. Each person is encouraged to start where they are and find their own pace, with the help of the instructor. Our teachers are experienced, caring professionals dedicated to making your yoga experience a positive one.Back Care: Focus on core strength, body posture, alleviating neck and back pain, and lengthening and decompressing the spine. Beginners welcome.
Beginning/Continuing: This mixed level class introduces variations on the postures, allowing students to practice at their own level of expertise. Beginners welcome.
Chair Yoga: Experience one the most gentle forms of yoga available! Perfect for people who are looking for a safe, thorough workout that offers breath awareness and relaxation. We will incorporate chair and wall support in addition to modifications to suit individual needs. Classes are part of our Yoga on a Budget Series and are $6 to drop in or 10 classes for $40.
Beginners welcome.
Continuing: A "moderate" class for students who are moving beyond Beginning/Continuing level and have an understanding of alignment and self-awareness. This is an invigorating and reflective practice with an inter-connective flow between postures and an emphasis on internal awareness. An ongoing practice is recommended.
Gentle: Slow-paced, emphasis on breathing, relaxation and gentle stretching.
Beginners welcome.
Intermediate: This is a strong class with emphasis on building strength, flexibility and stamina. Inversions and back-bends are practiced under the guidance of qualified instructors.
An ongoing practice is recommended.
Mid-Day Yoga: Multi-level classes taught by volunteer teachers. Classes are part of our Yoga on a Budget Series and are $6 to drop in or 10 classes for $40. Beginners welcome to Mid-Day Gentle and Mid-Day Beginning Continuing. An ongoing practice is recommended for Mid-Day Continuing.
Mid-Day Restorative Yoga: Relax and renew with this gentle yet dynamic form of yoga. Postures are practiced with maximum support and comfort allowing the body to open on its own. Classes are part of our Yoga on a Budget Series and are $6 to drop in or 10 classes for $40. Beginners welcome.
Meditation by Donation: Learn different meditation practices, mindfulness exercises and how to incorporate them into your daily life. For beginners and those wishing to enhance their practice. Offered by donation. Beginners welcome.
Power Yoga: For those with active or athletic lifestyles or those ready to reactivate them. Embrace your body's and mind's gifts and limitations to soar to new levels of flexibility, strength and well-being, from the very first session onward! Beginners welcome.
Prenatal Yoga: This class uses gentle stretching, visualization, relaxation and breathing techniques to help guide you through pregnancy and delivery. Beginners welcome.
Rise & Align: Get things in place for your day the yoga way! Gentle to moderate postures, breathwork, and centering exercises. This class is appropriate for all ability levels and promises to be a great way to start your morning. Classes are part of our Yoga on a Budget Series and are $6 to drop in or 10 classes for $40. Beginners welcome.
Yin Yoga & Gentle Yin Yoga: A quiet and gentle practice, Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues of the body and encourages greater mobility and health of the joints in our hips and spine. While the postures all done on the floor and held longer than in a traditional yoga class (3-5 minutes), the emphasis is on comfort and stability. Yin Yoga also provides time for mindful awareness, introspection and deep relaxation. Beginners welcome.

Yoga for Kids: Ages 4-10. Yoga based movement, breathing and centering techniques. Your child will develop body awareness, strength, confidence and maintain the flexibility they were born with. Adults can participate in the Yoga by Donation class offered at the same time. Beginners welcome.
Yoga for Teens: Improve physically and mentally in these classes designed especially for teenagers. Increase coordination and endurance for athletics; sharpen the mind for academics. Offered during school summer vacation. Beginners welcome.
