                        David Forest, RYT 200
                        Registered Yoga Teacher

                        David Forest
David’s path began upon discovering the Yoga Connection in Summer of 2006. David returned to yoga after back surgery as a means to regain strength. The staff and atmosphere at the Yoga Connection soon led to the attendance and completion of the HTTI 2007. The joy of sharing this knowledge and how his practice has aided in his recovery and growth since the surgery was an unexpected bonus to his yoga practice and teaching.

“Yoga has opened a way to not only help to repair the physical body but also cope with the mental aspects. I've learned that yoga is for EVERY BODY  and I am grateful to all the teachers (instructors, peers and students) at the Yoga Connection whom have guided and walked with me on this path. My hope is to teach others using the safe and mindful teachings to any and all who may seek it. Anyone and everyone can do and benefit from incorporating yoga into their life. Change is inevitable; how it unfolds is up to you.”

                        Jim Norris
                        Hatha Yoga Instructor

                        Jim Norris
Jim began practicing yoga at 8 years of age, practicing in his living room with Richard Hittleman on TV, and has had a consistent practice for the past 12 years. He has been teaching yoga for 10 years and considers his primary teachers, and inspirations upon the yogic path, to be Priscilla Potter, Goswami Kriyananda, Swami Satchidananda and B.K.S. Iyengar.

Jim describes his approach to yoga as organic and eclectic characterized by slow but deep movement, lots of breathing; keeping present in mind and body. His teaching style is meditative. His personal yoga practice includes mantra and sound. Jim teaches yoga in order to give back the teaching he has received and says the response from his students helps him continue learning. Jim has been teaching at the Yoga Connection about 10 years, considering it to be his “yoga home” and his sangha.

                        Julie Williams
Julie started practicing yoga in 2003 because she was curious. She completed the Yoga Connection’s teacher training in June of 2009  and began teaching after completing the course. She has had a wonderful experience at Yoga Vida practicing Bikram yoga. She recently completed the first level of yoga nidra or iRest training.

“I teach because I love yoga and I want to share this positive experience with as many people as I possibly can. I feel very comfortable and at home at the Yoga Connection. There is a very warm vibe that surrounds the studio and makes you feel welcomed. Yoga has been a very important force in my life. It has made me a better person. Now that I have fully experienced this positive impact, my life would not be the same without it.”

                        Miranda Stanton
Miranda’s personal yoga journey began ten years ago after typical injuries from a career in dance. She was drawn by the therapeutic value and ancient link of mind/body/spirit. The Yoga Connection is the first place she immediately felt comfortable and completed her teacher training here in 2009. After teaching theater movement for a few years and the influence of Priscilla Potter’s close examination of the teachings of Kriya Yoga, she began teaching Yoga the summer 2009.

“Each of my students offers a wealth of knowledge in our exchange within the safety of Hatha Yoga. There is a healing power in helping others. Through service I am able to learn more about myself & stay connected to my community and it’s needs & issues.”
